Top 8 Best VPN Providers in India (2024)
1) NordVPN – Best Overall VPN
Kripesh’s Rating – 4.4/5
NordVPN remains a top choice for us in 2024. Based in Panama (outside the 14 Eyes alliance), it offers excellent speeds, some of the best we’ve tested. While pricing may be higher, it’s a sound choice for online gaming, high-bandwidth streaming, and accessing US content.
Pros of Nord VPN
Overall Best Speed
NordVPN offers the highest speeds among all tested VPNs. When tested with a baseline speed of 240 Mbps, it achieved download speeds of 229 Mbps (a 5% decrease) and upload speeds of 167 Mbps (a 30% decrease).
Less Ping
When connected to the fastest Singapore server, it offers a ping under 100 ms, which is excellent for a VPN outside of India.
No-Log Policy Audits
NordVPN’s no-log policy has been audited four times, the most among all VPNs. Deloitte conducted audits in 2023 and 2022 and confirmed a clean track record. Additionally, PwC’s audits in 2018 and 2020 further support their stringent security policy.
RAM Servers
All 6,500+ NordVPN servers are 100% diskless. This means all your data will be wiped clean once you disconnect from the VPN.
Ad Blocker
Threat Manager is a prominent feature of NordVPN. It offers all-in-one protection from web trackers, URL blockers, DNS filtering, malicious ads, viruses, vulnerable software, and more.
Global Server Network
With over 6138 servers across 67 countries, users worldwide can enjoy the benefits of NordVPN.
Dedicated IP
Corporate users and business professionals who need a static IP address can benefit from this feature. However, it requires an additional purchase alongside the regular subscription plan.
Cons of Nord VPN
Basic Desktop Interface
The desktop interface feels dated compared to some competitors. While some features (Meshnet, Threat Protection) have dedicated buttons, essentials like split tunneling hides in settings, creating confusion.
Server Compromised
In March 2018, one of NordVPN’s Finland servers was compromised. While the company was aware of the incident, it took them six months to publicly disclose it.
Pricing
NordVPN | Basic | Plus | Complete |
Pricing (1 month) | $12.99 | $13.99 | $14.99 |
Pricing (1 year) | $59.88 ($4.99/month) | $71.88 ($5.99/month) | $83.88 ($6.99/month) |
Pricing (2 years) | $81 (3.42/month) | $93 ($4.28/month) | $129 ($5.13/month) |
Features | VPN | VPN + Ad blocker + NordPass | VPN + Ad blocker + NordPass + NordLocker |
For the most features at the best price, I highly recommend the NordVPN Basic 2-year plan. The plan costs ₹8006 in total (₹286/month). However, if you visit through my link, you can save 65% and get a 2-year plan with 4 extra months. So, the total cost for 28 months will be ₹6800 (₹243/month).

Conclusion
NordVPN provides excellent privacy features, NordLynx protocol, a Double VPN, etc. Additionally, features like Meshnet, Dark Web Monitoring, SmartPlay, Onion over Tor, and MFA protection offer a valuable bonus.
Among all our tested VPNs, it offers the fastest speeds and lowest ping rate. Their no-log policy has also been regularly audited, and their overall track record is clean. While the desktop interface is admittedly basic, and they experienced a single server compromise in the past, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
Introducing virtual servers in India allows you to stream Hotstar, Amazon Prime India, and other channels. I can confidently recommend NordVPN as a powerful all-in-one VPN solution.
2) Surfshark – Best VPN in Budget
Kripesh’s Rating – 4.3/5
Surfshark is our best VPN in buget. This VPN shines with unique features, speeds, and no log policy. Also, it’s the only provider that gives unlimited device usage.
Pros of Surfshark
Stable Speed
Surfshark delivers decent speeds and stable connections to both Indian and USA servers. In my tests, I saw only a 7% drop in download speed (221 Mbps) and a 75% decrease in upload speed (58 Mbps) from a baseline of 240 Mbps.
Unlimited Device Connections
Unlike many VPNs, Surfshark offers simultaneous connections for unlimited devices. You can connect as many devices as you want simultaneously with a single Surfshark subscription.
Affordable Pricing
Compared to NordVPN, ProtonVPN, or ExpressVPN, Surfshark offers the lowest price plans. Their 2-year plan costs you ₹175 per month, while other VPNs typically range from ₹250 to ₹300 per month.
Built-in Ad Blocker
CleanWeb is a unique feature that acts as an ad and malware blocker. It protects you from annoying pop-ups, data breaches, and video ads, and ensures a safe browsing experience. It’s the best Ad Blocker that I’ve used with a VPN.
RAM Servers
Surfshark offers over 6,000 RAM servers. You don’t have to worry about data privacy, as it’s automatically deleted after disconnecting from the VPN.
Transparent Privacy Policy
Surfshark’s privacy policy is clear and comprehensive. They outline all data collection practices in their easy-to-find privacy statement.
Audited No-Log Policy
Surfshark’s no-log policy has been audited multiple times by security experts. Deloitte audits in 2022 and Cure53 audits in 2018 both confirmed their strict adherence to user privacy.
Modern User Interface
The user interface is modern and feature-rich across all devices. The navigation bars are easy to find, and all important features (VPN protocol, kill switch, split tunneling) are easily accessible within the settings menu.
Free Mask Email
Last year, Surfshark introduced a free email masking option for all active Surfshark subscribers. You can create alternative email addresses to subscribe to newsletters or websites while keeping your main email address safe.
Optional Dedicated IP support
For more user control, Surfshark offers dedicated IP support. However, acquiring a static IP address requires an additional fee on top of the original plan.
Cons of Surfshark
Netherland-based Jurisdiction
Surfshark is headquartered in the Netherlands, part of the 9-Eyes intelligence alliance. While the country is known for its privacy-friendly policies, membership in this alliance raises concerns about potential data sharing during national security emergencies.
IP Address Collection
Surfshark’s privacy policy states that it collects minimal connection information, such as timestamps and a user ID or IP address associated with the VPN server. This data is deleted within 15 minutes of the session ending. The need to collect IP addresses and timestamps remains unclear to me.
Pricing
Surfshark | Starter | One | One+ |
Pricing (1 month) | $15.45 | $15.95 | $17.95 |
Pricing (1 year) | $41.44 ($2.59/mo) | $46.04 ($2.89/mo) | $76.32 ($4.77/mo) |
Pricing (2 years) | $58.52 ($2.09/mo) | $72.52 ($2.59/mo) | $114.52 ($4.09/mo) |
Features | VPN + Ad blocker + Masked email | VPN + Ad blocker + Masked email + Antivirus | VPN + Ad blocker + Masked email + Antivirus + Data Removal |
For the best value and features, I recommend the Surfshark Starter 2-year plan, originally priced around ₹4,950 (₹183/month). However, for an even better deal, use my link to get an extra 4 months of access free. Now, you can enjoy the plan for 28 months at approximately ₹4,833 (₹175/month).

Conclusion
Surfshark is a strong contender with affordable plans and impressive features. It offers all essentials plus some extras such as Camouflage mode, NoBorders mode, and Double VPN.
Unlimited simultaneous device connection makes it a true value-for-money option.
It delivers the fastest speeds (Download: 220 Mbps, Upload: 36 Mbps, Ping: 220 ms) among major VPN providers on US servers. The low ping also ensures smooth streaming and gaming experiences.
Until last year, Surfshark held the top spot in my recommendations before NordVPN introduced its virtual Indian server. Overall, if NordVPN’s pricing is a concern, Surfshark is an excellent alternative.
3) ExpressVPN – Best For Travelling
Kripesh’s Rating – 4.2/5
ExpressVPN stands out with its robust security, reliable connections, and vast server network (over 180 countries). This makes it ideal for privacy-conscious users and frequent travelers. However, its ownership structure raises some concerns, and upload speeds could be improved.
Pros of ExpressVPN
Blazing-fast Speeds
ExpressVPN delivers impressive download (220 Mbps) and upload speeds (71 Mbps) on Indian servers. So, the performance results in minimal speed reduction (8% and 70% respectively) compared to base internet speeds(240 Mbps).
Strict No-log Policy
ExpressVPN claims a strict zero-log policy, independently audited by reputable firms like KPMG, PwC, and Nettitude. Their commitment to privacy was further backed during a 2017 Turkish investigation that seized an ExpressVPN server but found nothing to compromise user privacy.
RAM Servers
Like other premium VPN providers, ExpressVPN operates a network of 3000+ RAM-based servers across 105 countries. This ensures that all user data is automatically erased when the server restarts.
Better Streaming Experience
With low ping rates ranging from 150 to 220 ms and virtual servers in India, ExpressVPN supports major streaming platforms for both Indian and US content. Users can enjoy buffer-free streaming experiences.
Clean User Interface
ExpressVPN offers a clear and intuitive user interface across all devices. Essential features like kill switch, ad blocker, and split tunneling are easily accessible within the “Options” menu.
Ad Blocker
Introduced this year, ExpressVPN’s ad blocker effectively blocks most display ads. However, it’s important to note that it relies on a predefined block list.
8-Device Access
Expanding from the previous limit of 6 devices, ExpressVPN now allows users to connect up to 8 devices. This means you can enjoy secure browsing on multiple devices with a single subscription.
ExpressVPN Keys
A valuable addition is ExpressVPN Keys, a password manager that securely stores unlimited passwords, credit card details, and notes across devices. It even provides alerts for data breaches and weak passwords. While not as advanced as 1Password, ExpressVPN Keys is a convenient option for users.
Cons of ExpressVPN
Expensive Plans
Compared to NordVPN or Surfshark, ExpressVPN comes with a higher price tag. The annual plan costs around ₹8300, nearly double the cost of Surfshark.
No Dedicated IP
ExpressVPN currently doesn’t offer dedicated IP addresses. This might be a drawback for businesses or individuals requiring more control over their online presence.
Kape Technologies Acquisition
ExpressVPN was acquired by Kape Technologies in 2021. Previously known as Crossrider, a malware developer, the acquisition has raised security concerns for some users because of the parent company’s past reputation.
Pricing
ExpressVPN Subscription Duration | Price per month | Total Billing Amount | 30-day Refund |
1 month | $12.95 | $12.95 | Yes |
6 months | $9.99 | $59.95 | Yes |
1 year | $6.67 | $99.95 | Yes |
I wouldn’t recommend the monthly or 6-month plans as they are more expensive. For the best value, consider ExpressVPN’s annual plan, priced at ₹8,351.27. This effectively reduces your monthly cost to ₹557 from ₹1,083.
Want to enjoy even more savings? I have a special discount for you: 3 extra months of ExpressVPN at no additional cost. This brings your total ExpressVPN subscription to 15 months for just ₹8,352.

Conclusion
ExpressVPN is a top-tier VPN service that excels with RAM-based servers and a strict no-log policy. The proprietary Lightway protocol contributes to decent speeds on Indian and US servers. Users can enjoy buffer-free streaming on major Indian OTT platforms and a smooth gaming experience because of low ping.
The absence of multi-hop connections and dedicated IP addresses tempers ExpressVPN’s strengths. Although I haven’t noticed any changes in their privacy policy or services after Kape Technologies’ acquisition, the ownership raises privacy concerns. Plus, the pricing is on the higher end.
If you’re comfortable with Kape Technologies’ ownership and are willing to invest, this VPN might be a suitable choice.
4) Proton VPN – Best FREE VPN
Kripesh’s Rating – 4.0/5
ProtonVPN consistently ranks among my top 6 Free VPNs. While pricier than some, the paid plans offer impressive speed, Stealth mode, ad blocker, and WireGuard support. For users looking for feature-rich options, Proton VPN can be a sound choice.
Pros of Proton VPN
Impressive Speed
Surprisingly, ProtonVPN has offered me the highest download speed (231 Mbps) on an Indian server. It also consistently delivered exceptional upload speeds (121 Mbps), outperforming Surfshark, and ExpressVPN.
WireGuard Support
Wireguard is the newest VPN protocol, renowned for speed plus security. Leveraging the WireGuard protocol, ProtonVPN minimizes VPN-induced latency while maintaining robust security.
Intuitive User Interface
The user interface is clean and provides a clear overview of the server network. Settings are conveniently organized under the General, Connection, and Advanced tabs, offering easy access to all features.
Stealth Mode
Let’s assume you’re traveling to a country with strict censorship and surveillance. ProtonVPN’s Stealth protocol will help you bypass these restrictions and enjoy complete anonymity.
Ad blocker
Netsheild Ad blocker is available for users. This feature uses DNS filtering to speed up your browsing. It protects your devices by blocking privacy-invading ads, preventing malware, and stopping trackers.
Transparent Privacy policy
Proton VPN’s headquarters are in Switzerland, a country renowned for having some of the strongest privacy laws in the world. Their privacy policy is transparent and well-written.
Strict No-Log Policy
ProtonVPN is committed to protecting your privacy and stores no user data. Their policy has also been independently audited for verification.
Cons Of Proton VPN
Expensive Pricing
The 2-year subscription plan costs over ₹9,000, which can be a barrier for some users. You might find more affordable subscription plans with comparable features from other premium VPN providers.
IP Address Storage by ProtonMail
ProtonMail’s (another product under the same ownership) previous privacy policy clearly stated no default IP address storage. However, they did log the IP address of a French activist upon request from Swiss authorities.
This incident led to a change in their privacy statement, which now clarifies that while they rarely log IP addresses, they may do so if legally compelled.
Pricing
Proton VPN Subscription Duration | Price per month | Total Billing Amount | 30-day Refund |
1 month | $9.99 | $9.99 | Yes |
1 year | $3.99 | $47.89 | Yes |
2 years | $3.59 | $86.11 | Yes |
The monthly plan costs ₹835, but I recommend the 2-year plan, which reduces the monthly cost to just ₹375. You have to pay ₹9004 in total for the biannual plan.
Wait! For my viewers, I have a special discount on the ProtonVPN 2-year plan. By visiting the link below, the 24-month subscription will cost around ₹7,196 (only ₹300/month). This saves you up to 64%.
Conclusion
ProtonVPN is a solid contender in the VPN market and offers impressive speeds when connected to servers in India and the USA. The low ping rate translates to a smooth streaming and gaming experience.
Similar to NordVPN, it allows you to connect up to 10 devices at once. You can also protect your devices from ads and trackers. Plus, its unique Stealth mode helps bypass censorship and restrictions.
However, ProtonVPN’s subscription plans can be expensive. While its free version ranks among my top VPNs list, the paid version could benefit from some improvements in pricing and value proposition.
5) Private VPN – For Physical Servers
Kripesh’s Rating – 3.8/5
PrivateVPN is a relatively new VPN service owned by The Miss Group. The company is primarily known for its web hosting brands like StableHost. While PrivateVPN offers free dedicated IP and physical servers in India, it currently lacks WireGuard support and has a limited server network.
Pros of Private VPN
No-Log VPN
PrivateVPN does not collect user data, website logs, or any connection logs. This ensures your anonymity in the online world.
Stealth Mode
Obfuscated servers help bypass VPN blocks and censorship. PrivateVPN offers this benefit through its stealth mode.
Free Dedicated IP
PrivateVPN offers a free dedicated IP service, unlike most listed VPNs. This means you can get a static IP address (available in all locations) without additional charges.
Virtual and Physical Servers in India
PrivateVPN is the only VPN on our list that offers virtual and physical servers in India. You can connect to the Bangalore location to access a virtual server or choose the Mumbai location for a physical server.
Low Ping
Since PrivateVPN operates physical servers in India, it delivers lower ping times when connected to them. So, you can expect a smoother gaming and streaming experience.
Cons of Private VPN
Slow Speed
While PrivateVPN offers low ping, speeds during testing were average. I got 52 Mbps download to 69 Mbps upload speed. This may not be ideal for users who prioritize fast-browning experiences.
Limited Server Network
This VPN has a smaller server network, with only 200 servers spread across 63 locations. This may limit your ability to find a server in your desired location for optimal speed.
Poor User Interface
The user interface is less feature-rich compared to other VPNs. The home screen only displays connect/disconnect options, and all other features are buried within the “Settings” menu.
Lack of WireGuard Protocol
Private VPN comes with OpenVPN, IPsec, PPTP, and IKEv2 VPN protocol. Unfortunately, it currently doesn’t offer the WireGuard protocol, which is known for its speed and security benefits.
Longer Subscription Plan
Previously, PrivateVPN’s best plan was available for 12 months. Now, the minimum commitment for the best deal is 36 months, which might be a financial burden for some users.
Pricing
PrivateVPN Subscription Duration | Price per month | Total Billing Amount | 30-day Refund |
1 month | $9.90 | $9.90 | Yes |
3 months | $6.00 | $17.99 | Yes |
3 years | $2.00 | $216 | Yes |
I wouldn’t recommend going with a monthly plan at ₹827, the most expensive option. Instead, I recommend the 36-month plan at ₹6,019. This reduces the monthly cost to just ₹167, saving you 85% using my link.
Discount: Get Private VPN at 85% Discount
Promo Code: Auto applied
Conclusion
PrivateVPN is a relatively new player in the VPN market. It stands out with unique offerings like a free dedicated IP, P2P support, and obfuscated servers. Additionally, the VPN offers a physical server in Mumbai alongside a virtual server in Bangalore.
However, the physical server in India raises a red flag. Indian VPN data laws may require data retention for up to five years. So, considering the high cost, lengthy plan duration, and potential data logging concerns, I’m a bit skeptical about PrivateVPN.
If you specifically need access to Indian physical servers, and a free dedicated IP, then PrivateVPN might be an option for you.
6) TorGuard
Kripesh’s Rating – 3.6/5
TorGuard is a distinct service from the Tor Browser. This VPN initially gained popularity for its focus on torrenting and offering highly configurable VPN settings. However, this year they have restricted access to torrenting on some servers, and I experienced slower speeds on testing.
Pros of Tor Guard
Zero-Log VPN
TorGuard claims to be a no-logs VPN, ensuring complete anonymity. It’s important to note that their privacy policy mentions storing some data through “Apache Webserver logs” (lacks clarity on what data is collected and for what purpose).
Stealth Mode
TorGuard offers obfuscated servers, which can help bypass restrictions in countries like China. This “stealth mode” disguises your VPN traffic to make it appear like regular internet traffic.
Customization Options
TorGuard provides advanced customization options through VPN startup scripts. These scripts allow you to automate tasks upon connecting to the VPN, such as connecting to file servers, opening specific websites or applications, or even controlling specific programs.
Cons of Tor Guard
Slow Speeds
TorGuard’s speeds can be inconsistent, particularly on Indian and US servers. I have experienced download speeds of 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 16 Mbps on Indian servers, and even slower speeds (around 4 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload) on US servers.
Limited Torrenting on US Servers
Due to its US jurisdiction, TorGuard blocked access to torrenting sites (BitTorrent) on US servers when compelled by US legal authorities. This can be a drawback for users who rely on US servers for torrenting.
Support can be Improved
While TorGuard offers extensive customization options, these require scripting knowledge. This makes it challenging for common users to take full advantage of these features.
Unaudited Privacy Policy
Although TorGuard’s privacy policy is transparent, it has not undergone any independent audit. This lack of third-party verification might raise concerns for users seeking the highest level of privacy assurance.
Pricing
TorGuard | Anonymous VPN |
Pricing (1 month) | $4.99 |
Pricing (1 year) | $29.99 |
Pricing (2 years) | $49.99 |
Pricing (3 years) | $69.99 |
Features | VPN + 8-device access |
With my discounted coupon, I think the yearly plan of TorGuard VPN with just $29.99 (₹2507), offers the best value for those primarily using a VPN for browsing.
Discount: Get TorGuard at 50% Recurring Discount
Promo Code: KRIPESH
Conclusion
TorGuard was popular for offering one of the best torrenting experiences. It comes with basic VPN features, static IP options, and the ability to connect up to 8 devices simultaneously. Plus, it offers Stealth mode and military-grade encryption for maximum user anonymity.
However, the jurisdiction is based in the USA, which is part of a major intelligence alliance group. This means they are subject to US government cybersecurity policies, which might restrict torrenting activity. Additionally, speeds are inconsistent.
Therefore, I no longer prefer using TorGuard. If you need highly customizable VPN settings and prioritize anonymity over speed, then TorGuard could still be a good option for you.
7) Private Internet Access
Kripesh’s Rating – 3.6/5
Private Internet Access, or PIA, is an established VPN service provider with over 10 years of experience. While known for snooze functionalities and P2P support, some drawbacks exist. Ownership by Kape Technologies, limited streaming support, and potential speed issues might outweigh the benefits for some users.
Pros of Private Internet Access
Decent Speeds
PIA offers good download speeds on Indian servers (around 150 Mbps). Upload speeds (around 23 Mbps) could be improved, but the download speed drop compared to a baseline of 240 Mbps is a manageable 37%.
User-Friendly Interface
The interface for Windows, Android, and macOS is clean and intuitive. Important features like the Kill Switch, split tunneling, and other settings are easily accessible under a well-organized menu.
Large Server Network
With over 3,000 servers across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East/Africa, PIA offers a wide range of connection options. It also provides virtual VPN servers for Indian users, potentially improving geo-restricted content access.
Snooze Functionality
A unique feature, Snooze allows you to temporarily pause the VPN connection for a set period. Once the time elapses, PIA automatically reconnects to the same server, providing a convenient way to manage brief VPN interruptions.
P2P Support
PIA allows P2P file sharing, granting access to popular torrenting sites like BitTorrent and qBittorrent. This makes it a good choice for users who prioritize P2P functionality.
Keep No Logs
PIA claims a strict no-logs policy, meaning they don’t track or store any user data that could identify your online activity. This VPN underwent an independent audit by Deloitte in 2024. Additionally, a 2017 US law enforcement investigation reportedly found no user data logs on PIA’s servers that could identify users.
Cons of Private Internet Access
Poor US Server Speed
When connecting to US servers (around 36 Mbps download and 13 Mbps upload), PIA’s speed can be lower. This might impact activities requiring high upload bandwidth, like streaming US content in high definition.
Kape Technologies Ownership
Similar to CyberGhost and ExpressVPN, PIA is now owned by Kape Technologies. This raises concerns for some users because of past accusations against Kape Technologies regarding cybersecurity practices.
Limited Streaming Support
PIA currently doesn’t unblock popular Indian streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video or Hotstar. This might be a drawback for users who prioritize access to these services.
US Jurisdiction
The headquarters are in the United States, which falls under the Five Eyes, Nine Eyes, and Fourteen Eyes intelligence-sharing alliances. This could be a concern for users who prioritize the strictest privacy laws and data retention policies.
Pricing
PIA Subscription Duration | Price per month | Total Billing Amount | 30-day money-back guarantee |
1 month | ₹900.79 | ₹900.79 | Yes |
1 year | ₹ 250.83 | ₹3,009.93 | Yes |
3 years | ₹150.08 | ₹5,853 | Yes |
Even if you choose the annual plan, the per month cost remains ₹250.83. You can cut the per month cost to nearly half (₹150.08/month) by choosing the 3-year plan. Plus, by purchasing through my link, you get 3 months of extra access and 500 GB of cloud storage for ₹5,853.00.
Discount: Get PIA Extra 3 months Free
Promo Code: Auto applied
Conclusion
Private Internet Access (PIA) offers a compelling package of features for security-conscious users. Unique features like Snooze functionality and a free malware and ad tracker add value. While PIA excels in other areas, it currently cannot unblock popular Indian streaming services.
Its headquarters are in the United States and Kape Technologies owns the company. Even though PIA is affordable, offering 3 years of access for ₹5,000, I don’t find any compelling reasons to purchase their paid subscriptions due to its limitations.
8) CyberGhost
Kripesh’s Rating – 3.4/5
CyberGhost is a decent VPN that was launched in 2011. It offers one of the largest server networks, which can be a reason to purchase their plan. However, it collects your IP address, does not offer an ad blocker, and does not support Hotstar or Amazon Prime Video. Therefore, if your purpose is buffer-free streaming, this VPN is not recommended.
Pros of CyberGhost
Average Speed
CyberGhost offers faster speeds than PrivateVPN. The download and upload speeds for Indian servers were around 150 Mbps and 23 Mbps, respectively.
No-Log VPN
A no-log VPN doesn’t collect your browsing activity or any usage data. CyberGhost claims to be a no-log VPN, so you can expect high anonymity.
Romania-Based Jurisdiction
CyberGhost’s headquarters are in Bucharest, Romania. Romania is outside of major intelligence-sharing alliances (Five Eyes, Nine Eyes, Fourteen Eyes). This means CyberGhost is not legally obligated to share user data with these countries under specific circumstances.
Large Server Network
CyberGhost has a large server network among the 7 above VPN providers. It has over 11000 servers in 100+ countries.
Cons of CyberGhost
IP Address Collection
During my review of CyberGhost’s privacy policy, I discovered they collect user IP addresses. Since they don’t clearly explain collection or a deletion policy like some competitors (e.g., Surfshark deletes IP addresses within 15 minutes), it can bother some users.
No Built-in Ad Blocker
Unlike some competitors, CyberGhost doesn’t offer an integrated ad blocker. This means you might encounter ads and trackers while connected to the VPN.
Limited Streaming Support for Indian Platforms
Currently, CyberGhost doesn’t support popular Indian streaming services. So, you can’t enjoy Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, or JioCinema.
Owned by Kape Technologies
CyberGhost is owned by Kape Technologies, which was previously known as Crossrider. Crossrider has faced accusations of developing malicious software in the past. This raises concerns about potential future practices.
Pricing
CyberGhost Subscription Duration | Price per month | Total Billing Amount | 14-day money-back guarantee |
1 month | ₹965 | ₹965 | Yes |
6 months | ₹560 | ₹6720 | Yes |
2 years | ₹175 | ₹4550 | Yes |
To reduce the per-month cost and receive 2 extra months of access, purchase a 2-year plan using my discount link. This way, you’ll get 26 months of CyberGhost subscription for ₹4,550.
Discount: Get CyberGhost Extra 2 months Free

Conclusion
CyberGhost provides one of the largest server networks globally. It even includes the WireGuard protocol for an optimized browsing experience, unlike PrivateVPN. While it currently doesn’t unblock popular Indian streaming platforms, international streaming might work if you get better speed.
In fact, their privacy policy doesn’t clearly explain why CyberGhost collects user IP addresses. In my view, CyberGhost is not worth your money. If you require access to a specific server location unavailable with other VPNs, then only its extensive server network might be a viable option.

List of VPNs to Avoid in 2024
1) IVPN
IVPN is a privacy-focused VPN with strong features like Anti-Tracker Mode. However, it has no servers in India, making it a non-viable option for Indian users.
2) IP Vanish
If you prioritize a balanced VPN offering speed, security, and unlimited device connections, IPVanish was previously a good choice. Unfortunately, they have also removed their servers from India.
3) PureVPN
PureVPN provides a large network of 6,000+ servers and promises a secure internet experience. However, it falls short of my recommendations due to poor performance in terms of speed and streaming capabilities.
4) VyprVPN
VyprVPN is often recommended for its strong data encryption and stable connection speeds. However, their customer service remains unclear about whether they operate virtual or physical servers in India. Due to this lack of transparency, I’ve excluded it from the list.
5) Windscribe
Windscribe ranks among my top 3 free VPNs for 2024. It offers unlimited connections for free users and doesn’t require email verification for signup. However, compared to its free features, the paid version may not justify for all users.
6) TunnelBear
TunnelBear offers a user-friendly interface, business VPN plans, and unlimited data access. However, similar to other providers on this list, they have removed their Indian servers due to concerns about mandatory data retention laws.
Testing Parameters
To recommend the most reliable VPNs, first, I created accounts and evaluated free versions of various VPNs. This initial screening identified the 9 most promising contenders. To truly assess their potential, I invested in paid plans and put these VPNs under the following parameters:
- VPN Speed from Speedtest.net (Baseline speed: 240 Mbps)
- DNS leak protection tests from IPleak.net
- Checking audits & privacy policy
- Customer support
- Ease of use
- Features
- Streaming performance
- P2P support
Only those with top-tier security features like robust 256-bit AES encryption, secure RAM-based servers, advanced protocols, a kill switch, and split tunneling qualified for further exploration. Finally, through this comprehensive testing process, I was able to identify the top 8 VPNs that stood out from the crowd.

Conclusion
In this article, I’ve reviewed the top eight VPNs of 2024. The reviews include the pros and cons of each VPN, their features, and their pricing plans. Based on overall security, browsing experience, features offered, and the best value proposition, NordVPN, Surfshark, and ExpressVPN rank in the top three spots.
If you prioritize an all-in-one VPN with features like ad blocking, dark web monitoring, and more, NordVPN should be your first choice. However, for the budget-conscious user, Surfshark offers similar functionality at a lower cost, even unique features like Camouflage mode and NoBorders mode. Finally, if security is your top concern, ExpressVPN steps forward with its password protection.
Overall, all eight of the mentioned VPNs are reputable options. I’ve clearly explained their strengths and weaknesses with no bias. Now, tell me: which VPN did you find most useful?
