HostArmada is an independently funded, privately owned web hosting provider. It was founded by Simeon Mitev in 2019 and is headquartered in Wilmington, USA. It is dedicated to delivering fast, secure, and reliable cloud SSD-based services to its customers.

HostArmada User Interface

The user interface of HostArmada is easy to navigate. As you log in, you get a dashboard that lists your active services, support tickets, and invoices. The left panel again features all of these settings along with account settings. The bottom right corner lets you access live chat support. 

You get cPanel for managing websites. It’s one of the most popular and feature-rich control panels. Overall, HostArmada’s interface is easy to use for beginners and professionals alike. 

Testing Parameters

For this review, I have purchased two different shared hosting plans of HostArmada with Indian servers: the Web Warp plan and the Speed Reaper plan. Both plans use Apache servers and include features like daily backups, unlimited websites, a free domain, and free SSL. 

For both websites, I’ve used the following settings.

• OceanWP theme (Elementor-based)
• Gym template 
• Indian servers

HostArmada Server Response Time

Server response time refers to the time taken by the server to respond to the request for the website by a user. I tested the server response time for both plans and found the results quite pleasing. 

For the Web Warp plan, the server response time was 5 ms for the Mumbai server. With the data center in India, you can expect a quick server response.

Hence, the response time was slowest for US servers (254 ms to 329 ms). And it is 60 ms for the Singapore server. 

The Speed Reaper plan server has a similar server response time. For the Mumbai server, the response time is 2 ms with this plan. The response time for the US server is 245 ms. And 59 ms for the Singapore server.

Overall, I have no complaints about the server response time. Both the plans got decent results, with Speed Reaper giving quicker server response time among the two. This is pretty good compared to the BlueHost servers.

HostArmada Speeds

HostArmada performed pretty well when it comes to website speeds. Let’s look at the results.

Indian Servers

When I tested both websites from the Indian region, these were the results. The website hosted on the Web Warp plan took 1.19 seconds to load.

Whereas, the website hosted on the Speed Reaper plan took 998.87 seconds to load.

US Servers

When I checked the speed of my website on the Web Warp plan from the US location, it loaded in 3.03 seconds. This is quite slow.

On testing the speeds of the Speed Reaper plan from the US location, I noted page load speeds of 3.37 seconds. This is again very slow and sluggish. In general, speeds above 3 seconds are considered pretty bad and may lead to viewers leaving your website.

Overall, both servers performed well in the speed test. But the speeds and performance on the Indian servers were significantly better.

HostArmada Uptime

HostArmada has consistently offered stable and reliable uptime. I have been testing the uptime of both my HostArmada plans for the last 4+ years using the Better Uptime tool. This tool monitors the uptime of my websites every 30 seconds.

HostArmada Uptime Status Report (Web Warp Plan)

The average uptime in the last 12 months has been 99.99%. In the last 30 days, it has again demonstrated a solid uptime of 99.99%.

HostArmada Uptime Status Report (Speed Reaper Plan)

Here’s the Uptime Status Report for HostArmada Web Warp Plan (Indian servers) for the last 365 days.

The average uptime demonstrated by the Speed Reaper plan for the last 365 days was 99.98%. And it has been a solid 100% in the last 30 days.

Overall, the uptime results of both HostArmada plans were exceptional, and I was highly impressed with their performance.

HostArmada Load Test

With load tests, we can gain information on the performance and efficiency of the server and the maximum load the server can take. 

Here, I sent 50 virtual users from the Indian location over to both websites. This was done to test how the servers manage the load in case of traffic spikes in real users. 

Web Warp Plan

The 50 virtual users made a total of 9.9k requests with no request failures. The P95 response time stood at 8.03 ms, and the peak requests touched 49.33 req/sec. 

Overall, the Web Warp plan managed to handle the load really well.

Speed Reaper Plan

The Speed Reaper server was using the LiteSpeed cache plugin. On load testing with 100 virtual users, it made a total of 9.9k requests with no HTTP failures.

The P95 response time stood at merely 29 ms, which is extremely fast! And the peak requests reached 49.33 req/sec.

Overall, the load management of the Speed Reaper plan was also excellent.

These plans work on the Apache servers. But if you prefer the LiteSpeed servers, then read my Hostinger Review, as they provide better service on LiteSpeed servers.

HostArmada Data Centers

HostArmada has 9 data centers across the globe. Here is the list of the data centers:

• USA – San Francisco, Dallas, Newark 
• Canada – Montreal
• UK – London
• Europe – Frankfurt
• Asia – Mumbai, Singapore
• Australia – Sydney

HostArmada CDN

Unfortunately, HostArmada doesn’t offer any built-in CDN options. You can manually install Cloudflare CDN on your hosting account to improve content delivery across multiple locations. I hope they introduce an in-house CDN on their platform soon. 

HostArmada Cache

HostArmada offers an in-built ‘Cache Commander’ within cPanel to manage your cache plugins. With the Web Warp plan, you get the basic cache plugin of the server. However, with the Speed Reaper plan, you get advanced cache plugins like Memcached, APC, and OpCache. 

Using these cache plugins leads to faster loading times and improves the performance of your website. This is best for e-commerce websites expecting huge amounts of traffic.

HostArmada Domains

HostArmada offers free domains, temporary domains, and also functions as a domain name registrar. Let’s dive into the details. 

Free Domains

HostArmada offers free domain registration when you purchase any of its hosting plans for at least 12 months. However, it is limited to the following TLDs: .com, .net, .org, .us, .biz, .info, .de, .co.uk, .org.uk, .ca, .eu, .uk, .tokyo, .futbol, .business, .click, and .com.br.

New Domain Pricing

HostArmada also functions as a domain name registrar. The following are the annual prices for some popular TLDs. 

Preview URL

HostArmada lets you create temporary domains (also called preview URLs) to check how your website looks before connecting a custom domain. You can find the option under Domains in cPanel. 

HostArmada Security

HostArmada offers a variety of security tools for its users. The most important ones are listed below. 

• SSL: HostArmada provides a free SSL certificate to protect each of your domains. 
• 2FA: With two-factor authentication, you need to enter a second verification factor, like OTP, biometric, etc, to ensure extra security.
• Immunify360: It’s a malware detection and removal tool provided by HostArmada at the server level.
• ModSecurity: It’s an AI-based web application firewall that protects websites from malicious traffic.
• IP Blocker:  It helps you restrict your site from being accessed from certain IP addresses.
• SSH Access: It lets you securely send files over the internet or log in remotely to make server modifications.
• Leech Protection: It lets you set a login limit to your password-protected directories. 
• Hotlink Protection: This feature restricts other websites from embedding your files on their pages.

HostArmada Backups and Restoration

HostArmada provides daily automatic backups on all its shared and WordPress hosting plans. These backups are stored off-server for extra security. On the Web Warp plan, backups are retained for 14 days. Whereas, on the Speed Reaper plan, they are stored for 21 days. 

To access your backups, you can use the JetBackup 5 tool available within cPanel. You can selectively restore your files, databases, and emails. However, there is no option to create manual backups yet. You need to request their support team for manual backups. 

HostArmada Customer Support

HostArmada offers customer support via email, live chat, knowledge base, and tutorials. My experience with the customer support team has been good. The support is quick, knowledgeable, and on-point. They answer technical queries really well.

They also have a decent knowledge base and tutorials to help you solve basic queries by following instructions. Overall, HostArmada’s support quality is excellent. They have a helpful and knowledgeable team, and you can easily get all your queries resolved with them.

Best Plan

In my experience, their Speed Reaper plan for 3 years is an excellent purchase. It comes with LiteSpeed servers, unlimited websites, extended storage, RAM, and monthly visits. This is suitable for business websites, blogs, e-commerce stores, etc. 

You can get it for $3.95/month, which amounts to $142 for 3 years.

Payment Methods

You can make payments via credit card and PayPal. I hope they also extend support for UPI Payments in the future. If you need UPI Payments, you can consider Hostinger or MilesWeb. 

Refund Policy

HostArmada offers an extended 45-day money-back guarantee. So, you can thoroughly test out your purchased plan at your convenience. If it doesn’t match your requirements, you can return it within 45 days and get a complete refund.

However, their 45-day refund policy does not apply to monthly subscriptions. 

HostArmada Migrations

HostArmada offers limited free website migration on its shared hosting plans. 

• Start Dock plan: 1 migration
• Web Warp plan: 3 migrations
• Speed Reaper plan: 5 migrations

In order to get your website migrated, you need to open a support ticket and provide your login credentials. Their support team will seamlessly migrate your website for you. If you have a lot of websites, check out ChemiCloud. It offers 200 cPanel migrations and 10 non-cPanel migrations. 

HostArmada Staging

You can easily create a staging site in HostArmada. Simply visit the WordPress Manager by Softaculous within cPanel. It will list out your WordPress installation, where you can create your staging site by providing the installation URL and other details. 

Then, you can test out changes on this staging site. Once you are satisfied with the changes, you can push your site to live instance through the ‘Push to Live’ button. Overall, staging is friendly for beginners.

HostArmada’s renewal prices have increased considerably over the years. You get the maximum discount on opting for a 3-year subscription.

3. No Built-in CDN

HostArmada still doesn’t offer its own CDN. You’ll need to manually configure Cloudflare if you want global content delivery.

4. No Manual Backups

Automatic daily backups are included, but you cannot create manual backups yourself. You’ll need to contact support if you need one.
