If you log in from another device without 2FA enabled, it lets you log in without verification.
Yes, you get an email notification, but ideally, it should restrict new IP logins for enhanced security.
Bitwarden is an open-source password manager with a feature-packed free version.
Its free plan lets you store unlimited passwords on unlimited devices. Along with that, it also offers secure notes to store credit card info, Wi-Fi passwords, etc.
Its paid plan is priced at $10/year, which is super affordable and offers advanced features like Emergency Access, Bitwarden Authenticator, Encrypted File Storage, Emergency Access, etc. If you are looking for a free or affordable, secure, and open-source password manager, I would highly recommend Bitwarden.

No Linux App
Dashlane does not support a desktop app for Linux devices as of now.
Doubtful Security Audits
Dashlane claims to undergo security audits regularly, but the reports are mentioned nowhere on their websites.
Some Services Limited to US
Features like Credit Monitoring and Identity Theft are only available for the US-based audience.
Questionable Privacy
Besides device and browser data, Dashlane also collects usage data. But it doesn’t specify the details of what exactly is being collected.
Data Logs
Its VPN service is provided by AnchorFree, a company that developed the HotShield VPN. They maintain logs of their users’ data, which is not good for privacy.
Dashlane is the good password manager for Windows devices. It is priced at $39.99/year.
In my opinion, if they remove their VPN service and reduce the charges, Dashlane could be a powerful competitor for other popular password managers.
So, if you need a feature-rich password manager with advanced sharing functionality for a single user, then you can go for Dashlane!
Pros of Zoho Vault
Feature-Rich Free Plan
Even the free version of Zoho Vault offers a lot of features like storing unlimited passwords, access on multiple devices, 2FA, password reports, offline access, and more.
Excellent Password Sharing
You can share your passwords with a single user and even user groups. This adds more convenience for large businesses and teams.
Easy Import and Export
You can import passwords from a variety of password managers. It also offers a very smooth one-click export functionality.
Functional Extensions
It has efficient browser extensions for all major browsers, including Safari and even Vivaldi!
Indian Ownership
Zoho, an Indian company that designs products for teams and businesses has designed Zoho Vault.
Password History
You can view the previous versions of your passwords in case you replace them by mistake, or wish to restore an old account.
Call Support
It offers call support which is very useful for the Indian audiences. You can get all your queries solved with a simple phone call to their technicians.
Cons of Zoho Vault
Outdated Interface
The user interface looks quite old. Its design can be improved. Last time I checked, they were working on new design.
No Security Audits
Zoho Vault has undergone no security audits yet.
No Data Breach Reports
Data Breach Report is an important security feature to identify if your data is leaked on the dark web. Zoho Vault does not offer it as of now.
No Encrypted Storage
You don’t get any extra encrypted storage space to save your confidential files.
No Mac or Linux Apps
As of now, Zoho Vault does not support Mac and Linux devices, which is quite disappointing.
Presence of Bugs
Because Zoho is not into full-time password management yet, you can find bugs in their apps at times.
Zoho Vault comes at an extremely affordable pricing of ₹648/year, which is even cheaper than buying a domain name.! It might start cheap, but it can be expensive for large teams.
For individual users, Zoho Vault seems to lack a lot of significant features, along with desktop apps for Mac and Linux OS.
If you have a team of 5-10 members, Zoho Vault is a decent password manager with good sharing functions. However, for large businesses, its pricing extends to approximately ₹4500/user per year, where a minimum of 5 users need to be added.
Overall, Zoho Vault is one of the best password manager app for teams and businesses in 2023. Though 1Password is also catching up for business users.
Pros of RoboForm
Clean History
Very few outages and hacking attempts have been seen on RoboForm.
Affordable Rates
It offers decent features at an affordable pricing.
Good Security
RoboForm uses strong encryption methods to secure your vault from online threats.
Emergency Access
You can add trusted contacts to access your vault in case of any emergencies.
Autofill and Auto-login
If your vault has stored entries for a website/app, you can swiftly login to it without a single click!
Offline Access
You can save and access all your entries offline from RoboForm’s desktop or mobile app.
Cons of RoboForm
Confusing Arrangement
Some of its functions are only available on extensions, while the others are only accessible through the web interface or the desktop app. Therefore, it might confuse beginners.
Average Interface
The user interface is decent and easy to use but lacks a modern touch.
No Dark Web Scanner
It does not monitor if your data has been leaked on the dark web, which is bad from the security point.
Slow Support
Support is good but it is not the fastest out there.
No Encrypted Storage
RoboForm doesn’t provide an additional encrypted space to store your important files and data.
RoboForm is one of the oldest running password managers, which comes at $23.88/year.
So, if you need a secure, established, and affordable password manager that can automatically login your entries and work offline, then RoboForm is a superb choice!
Pros of Lastpass
Emergency Access
LastPass lets you add emergency contact emails so that they can access your vault in case of emergency situations.
Restrict Country Access
You can disable specific countries to ensure your password manager cannot be accessed from those regions.
Auto Password Changer
LastPass automatically changes your passwords for popular websites like Amazon, but sadly, it doesn’t work well.
Credit Monitoring Alert
This feature is only for the US audience. It sends you daily updates on potential frauds to protect yourself from identity theft.
Cons of Lastpass
Free Version Limitation
You can only use 1 type of active device in the free version. This means that if your active device is ‘Mobile’, you can use LastPass on unlimited mobile devices only and not on computers.
Flaws in History
LastPass was first hacked in 2015, where a lot of encrypted passwords were leaked. In 2017 and 2019, we again saw flaws in their Chrome and Firefox extensions.
No Custom Fields
You do not get the option to specify custom fields for storing additional information like backup codes and security questions.
No Passphrase
LastPass lacks the passphrase generator, which is an interesting tool to create complex but memorable passwords.
Incompatible Extensions
Its browser extensions work well, but are not compatible with Brave Browser.
No In-Built Authenticator
LastPass has a separate 2FA app for generating secure OTP codes. They could have integrated this function within their password manager for more convenience.
Slow Customer Service
The replies from their customer support are very slow paced.
Import Issues
Sometimes, you might experience problems while importing CSV files.
Outages
LastPass saw its last outage in January 2020.
LastPass is an extremely popular password manager with some remarkable features, even in its free plans.
It is priced at $36/year, which is a little high-priced. I liked using their free plan. However, their history is not clean, so I won’t recommend using LastPass.
If you just need a simple password manager to store unlimited passwords, along with premium functions like automatic password changer and emergency access, you can check out LastPass.
Pros of Keeper
Easy to Use
Keeper is an extremely easy-to-use software, even for beginners.
Decent Interface
Its user interface is neat and simple, but can be improved in terms of design.
Emergency Access
You can add emergency contacts to access your data in case of emergency situations.
Detailed Reports
Keeper provides helpful reports on data breaches on the dark web. It also provides password health reports for weak and reused passwords.
Good Security
It uses the industry standard AES 256-bit encryption to safeguard your vault from any online intrusions.
Cons of Keeper
Expensive Add ons
The Breach Watch of Keeper costs $20. If you include other add-ons, the total price rises up to a huge $114!
Password Generator Limitations
You can only access the password generator on a login page, and not separately.
Immature Response to Security Flaw
A few years back, a famous journalist reported a security flaw in Keeper’s systems. Though they fixed it, they also sued the journalist who reported the flaw, which was a very wrong way of handling criticism.
Keeper is priced at $34.99/year. I personally don’t like it much because of its super expensive add-ons!
If you prefer ease of use and helpful security reports, you can take a look at Keeper, Otherwise, there are much better options that provide advanced functions at affordable rates!
Pros of RememBear
Good Security
RememBear was last audited in 2017 by Cure53, a famous cybersecurity firm.
Attractive Animations
Cute bear animations spread all over their interface gives it a more friendly vibe!
FingerPrint Unlock on Chrome Extension
If you use a MacBook, or a device that supports Touch ID, you can easily unlock RememBear’s Chrome extension using your fingerprint.
Backup Kit
In case you ever lose or forget your master password, RememBear offers a Backup Kit for quick account recovery.
Cons of RememBear
No 2FA
RememBear does not offer Two Factor Authentication which leaves your vault vulnerable to cyber attacks!
No Password History
You cannot check the previous passwords you had set for an online account, which helps in case you replace passwords by mistake, or wish to avoid a repetition of older passwords.
Extension Dependent on Desktop App
The browser extension of RememBear needs the desktop app installed in order to function, which is inconvenient for most users.
Limited Extensions Support
Its browser extensions do not offer all the major functions. For instance, exporting your vault or editing your logins is not possible from the extensions.
No Linux App
It does not support software for Linux devices yet.
No Web App
RememBear lacks a web app, which could’ve been extremely handy for users to access their vault without installing apps or extensions.
RememBear comes at a price point of $6/month, which is quite unjustifiable for the basic features that they are offering. It needs a lot of improvements, and at this price, I won’t recommend it to anyone as of now.
I agree, it is easy to use and gets the job done. But the biggest disadvantage is its lack of 2FA, which is not good for security.
UPDATE: As of July 2022, RememBear is terminating its services and users can no longer purchase, renew, or sign up for new accounts. All the existing users would be upgraded to the Premium plan without any additional costs and RememBear will stay functional for its current users till 18th July, 2023.
Pros of KeePass
Open Source
KeePass is an open-source password manager, which means everyone can find loopholes and security flaws in its code and they can be fixed instantly!
Runs on Donations
Unlike other password managers, KeePass does not offer any paid plans. It is a free software that accepts donations to keep its services running.
Apps for all Devices
You can find software for all devices including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS.
Decent Import and Export
The import and export features work swiftly and support lots of password managers.
Offline Access
It lets you store passwords on your local device to access without an Internet connection.
Cons of KeePass
Difficult to Set Up
KeePass is a password manager for tech-junkies! Because the setup process is complex, most people won’t enjoy using it.
Outdated UI
Its user interface feels ancient, with outdated designs and boring color themes.
No Auto-sync options
There are no options to auto-sync your vault across multiple devices.
No Reports
It does not provide any password health reports or data breach reports.
No Customer Support
KeePass discourages people from mailing them queries. It has forums for discussions.
KeePass is a free and open source password manager that you can use offline. It does lack some major features and is difficult to set up, but if you are into technology, you’ll find it fun to use!
Alternatively, you can use KeePassXC, which is a simpler and user-friendly version of KeePass.

Even I have been using it for past three years, and I am very much satisfied by it. Initially I was favourable due to it having its base in India and cost was affordable. But now they have shifted base to US and cost has gone up really high. Feature wise it is good. Biggest advantage is it doesn’t force us to use their cloud storage. We can sync locally or use any third party cloud service.

Have you given any thought to updating this article? LastPass has been proven unsafe. RememBear no longer exists. And only 2 options include the option of choosing your own storage/syncing location.
I’d love to see Enpass included (enpass.io). Full disclosure: I consult with Enpass. But I’d used the app for years before working with them. Enpass is user-friendly, wildly customizable, offers unlimited vaults, and users choose where their data is stored, and in the process offers stronger multi-factor security (hackers after my passwords have to target me personally, know which cloud I’ve used for storage, get those credentials, get past the cloud’s MFA, *and* know my master password).
